Experience

I was fortunate during my tenure at Fidelity to assist hundreds of individuals and families with their investments and financial plans. If I could sum up, in one word, my key takeaway from this experience, it would be “understanding.” I found it imperative to ask questions and truly take the time to understand where people are going on their unique journey. More so, I found it critical for my clients to understand what they are investing in and why. When I understood my clients goals and they understood the path I set forth for them, they were far more likely to stick with their strategy and avoid the emotional pitfalls many investors fall into. My role involved the following:
Developed investment strategies using multi-asset class portfolios for HNW individual and corporate clients, totaling $700MM in equity, fixed income, mutual fund, and ETF assets.
Built long-term relationships with clients through proactive outreach and counseled them on complex financial decisions; effectively listened and communicated solutions in a simplified manner to novice and sophisticated investors.
Stayed up-to-date on market trends, including the business cycle, valuations, and economic fundamentals, through independently sourced research and internal publications.
Collaborated with internal and external partners to navigate portfolio complexities and fulfill client objectives, including retirement, tax and estate planning, and equity compensation.
Awarded “Excellence In Action” multiple times, which is bestowed to leaders that act with personal accountability and passion for delivering strong results. Also awarded “Leadership Summit” (formerly Presidents Circle), which is the highest form of recognition, reserved for a very select group of top performers.

My role here evolved from an entry-level analyst to the head of the investment committee. I was the benefactor of a great boss, who allowed me to expand my knowledge, try new techniques, and autonomously implement process improvements. It was here that I learned the intricacies of portfolio management and Modern Portfolio Theory. I was tasked with building and maintaining model portfolios, tax analysis, trading accounts, fulfilling due-diligence, and ad-hoc investment analysis; my day-to-day tasks could be summed up as:
Performed quantitative and qualitative analysis on equity and fixed income securities to gather risk and return metrics.
Researched investment vehicles and fund managers; used the data to select securities and build portfolios, performing stress and back tests to manage risk and generate alpha.
Executed trades with high accuracy on a $200MM private wealth portfolio, while managing liquidity for distributions.
Partnered cross-functionally with fund managers, analysts, wholesalers, and other investment professionals to develop a robust investment process; presented strategies to the investment committee to influence trading and allocation decisions.
Ensured the management of the portfolios is consistent with client requirements (i.e. ESG), company compliance policies, and industry regulations.
