The non-resume side of me…
As a young boy, my grandmother would sit me on her lap and show me the stock tickers in the paper, along with the latest business headlines. From there, I became enthusiastic about compound interest and invested my allowance to see this growth phenomenon in real-time. To further fund my brokerage account, I bought and sold electronics on eBay and Craigslist, which began my passion for business entrepreneurship. On a side note, my mom loves to remind me that I moped around the house when I discovered I could not put my hard-earned money into a Roth IRA and had to settle for the less tax-advantageous custodial brokerage account.
In college, I studied Business Entrepreneurship, where I created a business plan for mass-customized shoes. In graduate school, I studied Financial Analysis and Investment Management, which led me down the path to become a CFA Charterholder. I have a passion for the public markets, but deep down, I have always been enamored with the private markets, especially early stage investments. In my opinion, stakeholders in early stage investing, whether a founder, investor, employee, or customer, are fortunate to have a front row seat to the changing world; I think it is so cool that these people get to influence societal progression.
At heart, I am a nerd for technology, space, and human wellbeing. I believe these interests shape my outlook on life, and to a large degree, shape my investment decisions.
I believe I am a fortunate individual, as I get to share this life with my amazing wife and tireless son. We relocated from the San Francisco Bay Area to Austin, TX in 2022, and we could not be happier. As a lifelong foodie, outdoor enthusiast, people person, and lover of hot weather, I could not ask for more in the city I call home. Being a Bay Area native with deep roots, it was a difficult decision to move to another state; I am grateful to live during an era of technological advancement that allows me to stay connected to family, friends, colleagues, and business opportunities around the world.
